After the first Industrial Revolution in the eighteenth century, the Fourth Industrial Revolution took place. The core of the First Industrial Revolution was the development of steam engines, the core of the Second Industrial Revolution was electric power, and the core of the Third Industrial Revolution was the development of digital technology. The core of the Fourth Industrial Revolution affects all industries through big data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT). The outbreak of the Fourth Industrial Revolution has led to the disappearance and creation of various jobs. The Ajou Globe (The AG) will explain this based on The 4th Industrial Revolution Future Job Outlook Report prepared by the Korea Employment Information Service (KEIS).

Jobs at risk due to the Fourth Industrial Revolution

1) Call Center Agent

Call center work is highly likely to be replaced by AI. Many companies are already operating call centers with chat bots, a type of AI. Simple personnel related to production and manufacturing are likely to be replaced.

2) Dental Technician

Owing to the emergence of 3D printers, the process of producing complex prosthetics has been simplified and the production time shortened. As a result, the number of dental technicians is expected to decrease.

3) Medical Diagnosis Specialist

AI can collect more data than humans. This allows AI to make medical diagnoses faster than humans. In addition, wearable devices that measure health indices are constantly being developed, so the work of medical diagnostic experts is likely to change.

4) Financial Clerk

Through big data and AI technology, customers can obtain more accurate information than they get from investment analysts, and deposits can be transferred without bank employees. As a result, the positions of financial clerks are expected to narrow.

5) Warehouse Worker

With the development of the IoT, sensor technology, and Virtual Reality (VR) technology, an unmanned automatic transportation system has been introduced, which is taking jobs from workers.

Promising jobs in the Fourth Industrial Revolution

1) IoT Specialist

As the IoT is the core of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, it is expected that demand for IoT experts will increase.

2) Big Data Specialist

Big data experts, who predict patterns through unstructured and structured data analysis, are essential in many ways. Therefore, the number of big data experts will increase.

3) VR Specialist

VR is widely used in games, education, and marketing, and many jobs are expected to be created.

4) Drone Specialist

Many jobs will be created because drones have a wide range of applications, such as disaster rescue and aerial photography.

5) Robotics Engineer

As smart factories expand, the demand for industrial robots is increasing, and robot development with AI technology will continue.
