Have you ever used an electric kickboard? An electric kickboard can be easily seen on campus these days. This is because people can use it easily through mobile applications. As you know, various mobility services using mobile applications are currently being introduced for the convenience of movements, such as sharing services of the car, electric bicycle, electric kickboard, and taxi. Moreover, mobile travel services using mobile applications have recently emerged. Let us look at car-sharing services and mobile customs.
In August, mobile customs that allows travelers to declare their goods through mobile applications were introduced at Incheon International Airport and Gimpo Airport. All travelers entering Korea had to fill out a paper declaration form at the time of entry. The Korea Customs Service (KCS) recently announced that it had developed an application called Traveler’s Customs Declaration to solve the inconvenience and hassle caused by problems such as repeated personal information entry and the risk of spreading infectious disease in the country. Travelers entering Korea need to simply download the application or enter the customs website with a QR code; to register, they can take a photo of the page of their passport with their details, which will automatically enter their personal information such as passport number and date of birth. It is expected that reporting will be more convenient if the mobile application is used instead of paper. In addition, KCS plans to automatically calculate the optimal tax amount and notify them of payment online and omit goods inspections in principle for Korean travelers who have faithfully declared, by the end of this year.
Incheon International Airport introduced a car-sharing service in August. The service is characterized by renting a vehicle from the “free zone” located in the Seoul metropolitan area and returning it to the free zone near the destination at no additional parking fee. People can download and use an application called “People Car”, and they can freely use it at 250 won per minute without car rental fees, driving fees, and additional charges for one-way use. The same is true even after returning to Incheon Airport. Users can go to a free zone in the parking lot and use the service without having to use the subway several times with a large luggage or waiting for a bus that does not match the arrival time of the plane. The service is expected to increase accessibility and convenience of movement by providing new transportation to people. If you are planning to travel abroad, it would be a good idea to take this opportunity to use the service.
It is becoming possible to move more conveniently through non-face-to-face and simple application services. As mobile services that consider the convenience and the mode of transportation increase, it will become a more pleasant and convenient society.
