최종 수정일: 2021년 4월 19일

No. 150 / Mar 8, 2021

On February 2, the official naming contest for the “Student Success System” was announced. Many students participated in this contest. The winner was the name that received the most votes through preference voting after the first screening. The student success system reflects the growing interest and efforts in non-academic programs, career preparation, employment, and start-ups. This system allows academics and non-academics to operate sporadically in a single system. Through this system, students will be able to receive comprehensive history management based on Ajou University’s core competencies.

The official name of the award-winning student success system is “Ajou Hub” (a combination of “Ajou” and “Hub”), which means that the system will be used as the center of university life. “Ajou Hub” received the most votes from students and won the grand prize. The runners-up included “Blooming” and “Analog.” “Blooming” represents the importance of non-academic programs in the process of cultivating innovative capabilities, just as various elements must be in harmony for a flower to bloom. It also combines the blue color of Ajou University in Blooming with -ing, which means progressing now. Another runner-up, “Analog” (Ajou + na (“me” in Korean pronunciation)), means recording student themselves at Ajou University. Other names that won awards included “Ajou Narae,” “A-log,” and “Ajou Dawn.”

Ajou Hub aims to make its beta version available in March 2021, when the first semester begins. Currently, Ajou Hub is trying to provide total services to students by integrating Ajou University’s scattered non-academic programs. The specific start date is still undecided but will soon be announced on Ajou University’s website. Ajou Hub will be based on the mobile web, and it will be easy to access via PC and mobile web without having to install an additional app.

Ajou University’s Center for Extracurricular Programs, which is in charge of Ajou Hub, emphasized students’ participation in Ajou Hub. The center also said that it would welcome feedback on anything lacking in the beta version of Ajou Hub and will refer to it in the future. The center stressed that, above all, “We will continue to make efforts to make Ajou Hub a customized system centered on student participation.”
