[On Campus] Ajou International Day: Let’s Experience the World

No.161 / Dec 12, 2022

Since 1996, Ajou International Day has been held annually and has become a representative global event of Ajou University. After a three-year break, Ajou International Day was held at Gaon Madang (also called Teletubbies’ field) on Thursday, November 10, 2022. The event was a success, with more than 300 foreign students from 25 countries participating.

Ajou International Day is an event where foreign students at Ajou University present and share their own food culture. Not only Ajou University students, but also Suwon citizens are welcome to attend and enjoy the event. It is a great opportunity for everyone to recognize the value of intercultural experiences. In this year’s event, various programs were prepared, including the World Culture and Food Expo, Cultural Performances, and Korean folk games. The World Culture and Food Expo was the main event where international students of the same nationality formed groups and cooked traditional dishes. During the event, students had a chance to present their talents such as traditional dancing, singing, costume parade, and other programs designed to highlight the traditions of their country. All of the performances were high quality, and among those outstanding performances, the best-performing team was chosen by the judges and given a prize. This year, the best-performing team was the students from Nepal. They performed Nepal’s traditional dance and even their traditional song. Korean folk games such as Tug of War and Korean Hacky Sack (Jegi Chagi) were available too. The Ajou Globe (The AG) hopes Ajou International Day was fun and created fond and happy memories for everyone.
