[On Campus] Ajou University Exchange Student Program

No. 154 / Oct 18, 2021

Do you know about the student exchange program? It is a program that affords you an opportunity to go to universities in various countries around the world, take classes, and communicate with students. If you experience various cultures through exchange student programs at Ajou University, your view of the world will change.

There are two types of exchange student programs: The first involves conducting a semester at a university that has a sister-school relationship with Ajou University. Tuition is paid to Ajou University, and dormitory expenses and food expenses are paid to universities going to exchange students. Some of the universities with sister-school ties include Nanyang Technological University, University College Sedaya International, Nottingham University, and Groningen University. The next type is the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP). This is a student exchange organization headquartered in Washington, DC; it has 350 member relationships worldwide and is a non-profit organization in the United States (U.S.) for the purpose of student exchange between member universities. Domestic member universities include Ajou University, Ewha Womans University, Korea University, Yonsei University, and Keimyung University. In addition, there is ISEP-U.S., which is available only to member regions in the U.S., and ISEP-MULTI, which is available only to member regions, not to member regions in the U.S.. Membership outside the U.S. include the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the University of Canberra, and the University of Auckland. The U.S. includes the University of Iowa, Utah State University, and Miami University.

Students for exchange programs are recruited in two rounds every semester. In the case of ISEP, applications are only available for the first round of recruitment. In addition, after COVID-19, there is an online exchange student program that allows you an opportunity to participate in classes at overseas universities online, without the need to travel abroad.
