[On Campus] Ajou University’s Good Grades in University Assessment

No. 153 / Sep 6, 2021

Ajou University is doing well in its recently announced university evaluation. Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Assessment, a British university ranking agency, is known as one of the world’s top three ranking institutions, using academic reputation, industry reputation, and paper credentials as indicators of evaluation. In this year’s evaluation, more than 6,000 universities around the world participated in the rankings of 1,300 universities. Ajou University ranked 531st to 540th in the world rankings and 13th in the domestic rankings in 2021. In 2018, it ranked 651st to 700th in the world and 19th in the domestic rankings, and it continued to rise steadily for three years as an institution with a good academic reputation, graduate reputation, and educational amenities. This feat may be because it has made great efforts to secure excellent teachers and strengthen their research skills and has supported students by developing various comparative programs, such as the blue semester system, and establishing support programs.

Beside the QS World University Evaluation Institute, it also performed well. In the Times Higher Education (THE) evaluation of universities in Asia, which is limited to a range of universities in the world’s three largest universities, the ranking rose from 250th in 2018 to 130th in 2021 and from 20th to 12th in Korea. Here, there was an increase in scores in the area of study and paper citation. Moreover, the Korean economic newspaper Science and Engineering University ranked 10th from 13th last year.
