No. 155 / Dec 6, 2021
Job preparation requires information from incumbents. In line with this, Ajou University’s Job Plus Center provides several opportunities to meet incumbents from various industries. Several special lectures delivered by such individuals were held this year.
Lectures from outside incumbents
In the first half of 2021, a “Relay Duty Lecture” was held for students from various majors from April to May. Lectures in the field of pharmaceutical and biotechnology were delivered April 7, with lectures in other fields held as follows: software, April 8; semiconductors, April 13; automobiles, April 14; marketing, April 16; management support, April 28; and Artificial Intelligence (AI), big data, and logistics, May 3. Due to COVID-19, participation took place via Zoom and not in person. Students found this relay advantageous because they could select and listen to lectures depends on their desires. In addition, in July 2021, the first Ajou University Job Fair was held in collaboration with the Suwon Employment and Welfare Center. Special lectures were delivered by incumbents from such famous companies as the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, Woori Bank, KT, and Naver. These lectures were held in real time via the official website (https://jobfair.ajou.ac.kr/), and Video-On-Demand (VOD) was also provided during the job fair. Not only Ajou University students, but also citizens were able to participate, and various events including a “golden bell” about youth employment policy also took place. In November 2021, the second job fair was held; its composition was different from the first one, as special lectures were offered by incumbents of popular companies based on their job responsibilities, such as strategic planning for Woowa Brothers and memory technology for Samsung Electronics.
Mentoring of incumbents who are also our senior alumni
The Ajou Dongmun Mentoring program, which facilitates mentoring from our senior alumni (dongmun) took place from September 23 to October 7. Mentoring was provided by incumbents from Lotte Chilsung’s sales management team, Hyundai Motor’s battery evaluation department, SK Hynix’s mass production technology department, and Daewoong Pharmaceutical’s analysis research team, among others.
One-on-one interviews with incumbents
In addition to special lectures, which involved listening to and asking questions of industry incumbents, a special program was held in November that allowed current employees of Kakao, Samsung Electronics, and Samsung SDS to conduct one-on-one interviews with students. Each participant provided a completed job application and was interviewed for 40 minutes. Feedback was also provided.
Only a few representative ones were introduced, and more were held. It will definitely be helpful to you to take a closer look at Ajou University’s Job Plus Center and Ajou Hub.
