No. 150 / Mar 8, 2021
The student counseling center of Ajou University Human Rights Center was selected as a “2020 Excellent Counseling Agency” by the National Council of University Student Counseling Centers. The Council, which includes more than 240 counseling centers across the country, selects and awards excellent counseling institutions and counselors for counseling operations, counseling specialties, counseling activities, and individual sectors every year. Ajou University was selected as the best institution for counseling specialties.
In April 2003, the student counseling center was established to provide professional and efficient scientific welfare services to improve self-realization, healthy college life, mental health, and quality of life for students. So far, it has provided the skills and information necessary for learning and working through professional psychological counseling, psychological examination and interpretation, collective counseling, workshops, and special lectures. In 2019, it established a psychological health system for students and operates four new programs: group psychological examination (Ajou-heart seeing), a professional counseling program (Ajou-heart touch), psychological health education (Ajou-blue mind), and an in-school and out-of-school linkage program (Ajou-mind-like). The student counseling center provides counseling, psychological examinations, and group counseling programs during the semester and vacation. Counseling centers are available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, though from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. they are closed for lunch. If you want personal counseling, you can visit Student Union 2, 4th floor, room 424 to apply for counseling in person, or you can apply online, as the spread of COVID-19 has limited face-to-face work at counseling centers. For those who want a consultation, refer to the following guide:
First, access the web address (https://www2.ajou.ac.kr/ws/), download the personal counseling application form and consent form for personal information collection and utilization, and fill them out carefully. Second, to ensure confidentiality, send an e-mail with the above documents attached to counseling@ajou.ac.kr. Third, wait for a confirmation e-mail from the student counseling center. For other inquiries, you can contact the student counseling office at 031-219-2191. The Ajou Globe (The AG) expects more students to actively utilize these in-depth and multifaceted counseling services to develop self-understanding and a healthy spirit.
