[On Campus] All the Best for the Future!

No.159 / Sep 5, 2022

On August 22, the second half of commencement at Ajou University was held. During the ceremony, several new graduates received their degrees. The Ajou University students graduating in 2022 can graduate in the second half of 2022 (commencement in August 2022) or the first half of 2023 (commencement in February 2023). The second half of commencement corresponds to a later (or delayed) graduation. In the olden days, the perception that students should graduate within four years was ingrained in society. Today’s undergraduates, however, believe that one should graduate in a way that makes them ready for employment. Therefore, the number of students who consider graduating a little later, rather than taking up any work after graduation, is increasing. According to a survey by Albamon, a part-time job site, 37.9% of students said that they would choose the second half of commencement to postpone their graduation and do the necessary preparation to get a job; this is higher than the 31.9% who said that their graduation had gotten inevitably delayed due to enlistment and tuition.

One important thing that students must remember is that they do not need to be obsessed about getting a job immediately after graduation. Everyone worries about their career path all throughout life. Therefore, students need not be impatient about deciding their career path right away. The Ajou Globe (The AG) sincerely wishes all graduating students the very best for their future.
