Ajou University will mark its 50th anniversary next year. Since its inception, Ajou University has undergone several changes before taking the current form of a university. In March 1973, starting with Ajou Junior College of Technology, it was promoted to Ajou University of Technology in December of that year. It is interesting to note that Ajou Junior College of Technology was founded with the cooperation and active support of France, and not by Korea itself. Over time, Ajou University of Technology was promoted to Ajou University, with the creation of various departments, including a medical department. Ajou University have succeeded in establishing a university hospital which is still uncommon among universities. Ajou University underwent rapid changes during its early days developing its quality.
In celebration, Ajou University will host many events that celebrate its foundation. The biggest event is the 50th anniversary project, including a new slogan and emblem, as well as other projects. All projects will focus on celebrating its foundation and future school development. Ajou University announced its university philosophy which is respect for human beings, seeking diligence, and being a world best, along with the slogan “Being A+ in the world”. In addition to this, the school is going to carry out internal businesses. These are divided into international cooperation, Ajou history memorial, academic industry, and Ajou culture part. Details of the various projects to take place in 2023 can be found on the main university website. A project that had already been carried out was an event held in YeonAm Hall to collect important items in the history of school to mark the 50th anniversary of the school’s opening. Many of the first diplomas, school flags, and equipment used in the early days of the school were on display.
The fact that the school is celebrating its 50th anniversary may not be felt much by anyone, but The Ajou Globe (The AG) hopes to celebrate this milestone as a member of the school and continue to develop over many years.
