No. 155 / Dec 6, 2021
The “In-Dong Line 109” subway station, which connects Indeogwon in Anyang-si and Dongtan New Town, will enter Ajou University three-way intersection. It is scheduled to be completed by 2026, and the metropolitan bus terminal is also preparing to enter there. Since schools and residential facilities are concentrated, the new station is expected to provide accessibility and convenience for passengers as a transportation hub.
Discussions are currently taking place on the name of the new subway station. Suwon City Hall received a variety of residents’ suggestions for the station name from October 21 to 29, including “Gumaetan Market Station” because there was such market nearby, “Nam-Gwanggyo Station” because it was in the south of Gwanggyo New Town, and “Uman Station” because it is located in Uman-dong, Suwon-si. Accordingly, the Ajou University Student Council agreed on the name “Ajou University Three-Way Intersection Station” and made a post on SNS encouraging students to agree with that suggestion. The reason is that the station enters at the place that the main gate of Ajou University was at the time of the opening of Ajou University, and most residents recognize this place as Ajou University three-way intersection. In addition, the nearby bus stop is also called “Ajou University Three-Way Intersection”.
Even now, discussions on the name of the new subway station are still underway. As it is close to our school, The Ajou Globe (The AG) hopes that the new station, which will provide convenience for students and residents, will be named as “Ajou University Three-Way Intersection Station”.
