On Wednesday, February 22, the dormitory cafeteria reopened after a two-year hiatus. It is located on the first floor of the Dormitory Dining Hall, between Yongji Hall and Namjae Hall, across the stairs going down from Paldal Hall. Students who do not live in dormitories can also buy a ticket through a kiosk for 5,500 won. The kiosk opens from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. for breakfast, 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for lunch, 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for dinner during vacations, except on weekends and holidays. When the semester begins, the deadline for breakfast is postponed by 30 minutes and the dinner is preponed by 30 minutes. The menu consists of either Course A (here) or Course B (to go). Course A is not available during breakfast. Course A is daily menu, and Course B serves cup rice and salad.
The dormitory cafeteria was closed in April 2020 due to worsening management during COVID-19. Despite rent cuts, the contract with the original company (which has been operating since October 2015) was terminated in 2021. Finally, in October 2022, Ajou General Affairs Team announced a contract with Samsung Welstory. Samsung Welstory is an affiliate of Samsung Group for group meals. Until May 2022, they supplied Suninjae Restaurant of the School of Medicine of Ajou University, which was popular with students. In addition, they supplies Everland too, and its meal called Ever-bab. It is popular among people for its deliciousness. When the selection was announced, Ajou University students showed high expectations.
The company selection underwent various difficulties from early 2022 to October (according to Ajou General Affairs Team), and the opening schedule was delayed from December 2022 to February 2023 due to the coordination of opinions on lounge interior construction (according to Ajou Facilities Management and Construction Team). As the school and students have gone through a hard time, The Ajou Globe (The AG) hopes that the reopened cafeteria will be great.
