The student cafeteria (at the first floor of Student Union 1) has been changed to “ACHELIN,” which is the new food court and study lounge. It just opened last March 12. Considering the opinions of Ajou University students, various kinds of food courts have been established. There are currently a total of four food stalls in the food court, and one more will be added soon.
The first stall is Bunsik, and there is a brand called “Gamtan Tteokbokki”. Here, students can find a variety of basic menu items, including rice tteokbokki, wheat tteokbokki, double cheese tteokbokki, and soup tteokbokki at a price ranging from 3,000 to 7,000 won. They can also order combo meals, which consist of various foods priced between 4,500 to 16,000 won per person. In addition, it offers a wide variety of side dishes, including rice balls, fried foods, noodles, ramen, and kimbap.
The second stall is Western-style food, where you can choose between “BAGUETTE BURGER” and “Samsam Pork Cutlet.” They offer unique burgers that you will not find in McDonald’s or KFC. BAGUETTE BURGER sells baguette-based menu items and burger such as the Secret Baguette, Original Baguette, Amazing Chicken Burger, and Wasabi Shrimp. The items are priced at 4,000 won each, and combo meals are priced at 6,000 to 7,000 won. “Samsam Pork Cutlet” serves standard pork cutlet, sweet potato cheese pork cutlet, hamburger steak, and king pork cutlet. Pork cutlets are priced at 6,500 to 8,000 won, while udon (Japanese noodles), including kimchi udon and fish cake udon, cost around 4,000 to 5,500 won. For an additional 2,000 won, you can get a small order of udon with your pork cutlet.
The third stall serves Korean food. There is a brand called “Man Kwon Hwa-bop” and sells rice soup dishes such as meat soup and Sundae-gukbap (stuffed intestine soup served with steamed rice). Rice toppings are priced at an average of 6,000 won, and rice soup is priced at an average of 6,500 won. There are many different types of rice dishes topped with beef, pork, and dak-galbi (stir-fried chicken) to choose from.
The Ajou Globe (The AG) tried the offerings at the student cafeteria and selected the best menu items from each stall. They recommend the sweet potato cheese pork cutlet from “Samsam pork cutlet.” Students can enjoy a crispy and savory pork cutlet for just 8,000 won. An added plus is that you can choose from many different kinds of sauces. Students can choose between rosé sauce, curry sauce, spicy chili sauce, and demi-glace sauce in addition to the basic sauce at no extra charge. The rice topped with boiled egg is the recommended menu item from “Man Kwon Hwa-bop” because it is something that you cannot usually get for just 5,000 won. In short, the new cafeteria, “ACHELIN,” has more menu options and improved facilities.
There is also a rest area where students can relax, meet, study, or rest. The study lounge is located in a separate space by the windows, so students can study in a peaceful environment. The operation hours are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.. You can get Man Kwon Hwa-bop, BAGUETTE BURGER, and Gamtan Tteokbokki menu to go.
