Ajou University was established on April 22, 1973. This year marks its 50th anniversary, and to celebrate this, various commemorative events are being held; one of the events is called “The President Runs”—it entails President Choi Ki-joo visiting alumni companies and influential figures.
So far, President Choi has visited three places. He first visited Morning Stone, a company that manufactures artificial stones for building interior and exterior and is represented by Choi Joong-won, the chairman of Ajou University’s alumni association; Choi Joong-won made a donation to the university and had a discussion with President Choi on its issues. President Choi next visited Dodo International, a design and engineering company for tower cranes represented by Chae Kyo-seok, an alumnus of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Ajou University. Chae Kyo-seok donated 10 million won to the “50th Anniversary Project Fund”. Including this donation, he has donated a total of 60 million won, with the other beneficiaries being the “Memorial Project for the Founders of Daewoo Academy” and the “Scholarship Fund for French Literature”. Later, President Choi visited Jincheon-gun to meet Governor Song Ki-seop, who holds a doctorate from the Department of Civil Systems Engineering at Ajou University Graduate School; the two discussed in depth ways to cooperate and conduct exchange programs with universities and local communities.
President Choi will continue to visit alumni companies and influential figures in person and discuss the university’s various issues, educational philosophy, and goals. He is looking forward to interacting with alumni in various fields.
