The 25th LH University Student Housing Architecture Competition was held from June 14 to July 2. The award ceremony was held October 26. Entries in the LH University Student Housing Architecture Competition are evaluated as videos and models; each team of no more than two students designs a house suitable for the theme. The theme of the 25th competition was “Sympathetic Housing: Co-living” and teams were instructed to design shared housing. A total of 196 teams from 68 universities nationwide participated.
Three teams of students from Ajou University were awarded prizes: the Grand Prize, Bronze Prize, and Encouragement Prize. Grand Prize team members were Kim Yu-eun and Park Sung-jeon. By setting up a site where educational facilities are concentrated, in Cheongju, a shared house was designed in which adolescent preparing for self-reliance after leaving the shelter and single youth from nearby universities could live together. Bronze Prize team members were Lee Hye-jun and Son Eun-ji. At the project site in Daemyeong-dong, Daegu, which has recently lost its identity due to the aging population and the appearance of several franchise companies; the team designed a shared house where local creators could live. Team members awarded the Encouragement Prize were Lee Hyung-min and Ou Yoon-beom; they designed a shared house in Gongneung-dong, Seoul, for university students, engineers, and start-up workers leading the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
